Position summary
Under the general supervision of the Diagnostic Imaging Manager, the Medical Sonographer is responsible for the provision of ultrasound services to patients according to physicians’ orders. Performs ultrasound procedures at a technical level Provides for patient safety and high quality testing.
Requirements
Required licensees/certification and work experience
High School diploma required, AA degree or higher desired. Graduate of Diagnositc Medical Sonography School. Current registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (suggested). Prefer two years experience under a Board Certified Radiologist performing ultrasound modalities. Current BCLS certification. Extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Knowledge of principles of physics, electricity and related physical sciences as applied to ultrasound and other commonly used ultrasound techniques. Knowledge of the hazards of ultrasound materials and safety precautions required. Previous experience in hospital environment preferred.
